Heart Disease
Heart disease is usually caused by atheroscerosis or hardening of the arteries. It is the number one cause of death in the United States.
Maybe the following picture is helpful. You only have 5 litres of blood, about 20% more than what is in a wine cask. Considering your size, and the ridiculous number of miles of arteries, veins and capillaries in the body, it really isn't much.
That means that whatever you eat or drink will have a profound effect on the lining of the arteries for example. And the facts are that the average American eats a lot of poison.
It is also true that negative emotions have an equally profound on the body, including circulation.
The central nervous system controls the activity of the the circulatory system. So for example for someone engaged in scientific study the circulation decreases. When you get sexually aroused then depending on the availability of nitic oxide derived from arginine, the blood vessels dilate.
If follows that sexual dysfunction is an indicator of an increased risk of heart disease.
Heart Disease Risk Factors
Various foods and lifestyle factors are implicated again and again as a heart disease risk factor, yet it appears to me that people are set in their ways, oblivious of the fact that they are more likely than not to be affected by this problem in some way.
Too often you hear "You hear conflicting accounts of what is and is not good for you - so why bother? You only live once. I may as well enjoy life". OK so lets all go out and see how many sexually transmitted diseases we can pick up?
That is all very well, because the fact is that Pritiken died of heart disease after promoting bread all his life and no wonder. But this also highlights the problem - vested interests apathy, and misguided "health fads".
But I don't see how that means in any way that science is obselete. It simply means that science like religion has politics built into it. So you need to become a politician - or at least street savvy.
Unfermented Milk Protein
Here is a good example of what I mean. Lets face it, there are not many studies that support the health benefits or dairy products. Actually there are some, for example taking yoghurt to fight candida. As you shall see that conflicts in no way with the general scientific finding that unfermented milk protein may be one of the prime causes of heart disease.
I remember a somewhat amusing account about New York City mayor Rudi Giuliani. Apparently Rudi appeared in advertisements promoting milk. (See what I mean?) The doctors were not impressed so they pooled funds and responded with an advertisement pointing out the link between milk and prostate cancer (apparently Rudi's father was afflicted). Rather heavy humour I know.
One of the largest studies conducted in 24 countries found a high mathematical correlation between the consumption of unfermented milk protein and heart disease.
Just ponder on this for a moment. Obviously it is not saying that dairy is bad for you. It means that milk, low fat milk, milk powder, milk chocolate, UHT milk, custard and all confectionary and pastry containing milk are poisonous.
In contrast cheese, yoghurt, butter, whey and cream are likely to be good for you.
See how that can lead to the popular opinion that "they alway introduce conflicting reports regarding what is and what is not healthy". Obviously "dairy products" and "unfermented milk protein" are somewhat different concepts. This example brings a few issues into focus actually. Firstly the likelihood that milk drunk by African natives is good for you, but that the pasteurization creates toxins. Much later homogenization enabled the protein (casein?) implicated in heart disease to be absorbed in the intestine. In everything you read on this page you will see how scientists in their pride and greedy corporations have processed food rendering it toxic.
The second point I would like to make is that it has long been a tenet of for example the macrobiotic diet to try to eat predigested foods. an example of this is sourdough, where the dough is left to go sour. This gives the bacteria time to digest the nasties before they hit our gut. Of course yoghurt and cheese are another example.
The third point I would like to make is this. Can you see how ridiculous the cholesterol myth (promoted by political boffins, "heavies" from the medical) industry is?
It is so clearly wrong. According to the study mentioned the healthy shit sponsored by the heart foundation (yes that green !@#$% fortified with even more unfermented milk protein with the cream removed and sold at a good price to people who have a head on their shoulders) is the prime cause of the most deaths in the US.
You see this in the lunchrooms at work. Does anyone EVER question the experts? I mean hello...this is science?
It has been said that this outrageous lie has been perpetrated knowlingly by the experts just so they could patent their cholesterol reducing drugs. As we shall see, the concepts that processing turns food into toxins, and that YOU NEED FAT occurs repeatedly in this discussion.
Carbohydrate
Another clear pattern that emerges as we compare controlled studies is that what Americans call carbohydrate contributes greatly to heart disease. As you are aware, this is a food group which has suffered terribly at the hands of food processing for a long time now.
I think that you will find if you read long enough that this group has been implicated in the risk of cancer, low levels of growth hormone, obesity, stress, heart disease/poor circulation and shortened lifespan. It is perhaps unnecessary to differentiate between most of these - they seem to go hand in hand.
I have no doubt that we can add other side effects like ADD and teenage crime to the list.
So what foods are we talking about? Bread, cake, cookies, pasta, flour products and sugars.
Do you need an example? A study published in the West Australian newspaper recently found that when people replaced two slices of bread with the calorific equivalent of lean steak in their daily diet that their heart disease risk decreased by over 30 percent.
Please think about this for a minute. If you are in the majority and you think "...I may as well enjoy life", it appears that an innocent carbohydrate may cost you 10 years of your life, while significantly degrading the quality of that life (plus all the medical expenses and heartache to your loved ones).
I know, you will ignore this and the same will appear on your table tomorrow as yesterday. But this is how animals behave. The sort of carbohydrates which in moderation are better, are sweet potato, a little potato, essene bread, nuts, a little honey legumes and brown rice.
The sort of sugar that is much better is the slow release type. For example rice or barley malt contain maltose, dextrose, complex carbohydrate and a small amount of glucose. The glucose will give a quick fix, and the bulk of the syrup takes hours to digest. Of course it is high blood sugar levels which does the damage, and all that I have recommended takes care of this by releasing sugar slowly.
In an experiement with rats it was found that depriving rats of carbohydrate from birth made them live three times as long. I have no doubt whatsoever that a similar experiment with humans would make them live for 250 years.
Also with regards to the refining of carbohydrate as in sugar and white flour (and alcohol), remember that the body requires the b vitamins to digest carbohydrates. Therefore by taking refined carbohydrates (b vitamins removed) you are robbing the body of these. If stress is also using your b vitamins - hey you have a problem (one foot in the grave).
You might think I am very negative in all the above. However I disagree. If you combine all the cream, butter, cheese, nuts, malt etc (not to mention fruit and vegetables) I am offering you a much more wholesome and tasty platter than the cholesterol prophets of doom and gloom would every allow you. Go to the refrigerator NOW, and pour the green milk down the sink.
Processed oils
Just to demonstate the sheer consistency of my argument let us now focaus on the good and the bad fats, and you will see just a repeat of the logic outlined previously.
It is a historical fact that in the 1920's the rate of heart disease increased. So did PROCESSED cooking oils proliferate. Same old, same old... Yet again we find that NATURAL cold pressed oils like extra virgin olive oil reduce blood pressure.
In contrast your avaerage canola oil has been turned into soap and then back into oil with acid. Sorry this is food. Time and time again we find that treating good food as a chemical process results in the deaths of millions.
Also there is very clear evidence that fish oil has a tremendous health benefit. even if you are poor, cold pressed cod liver oil is cheap and a desert spoon (daily) contains are large percentage of a toxic dose of vitamin e and vitamin a as well as omega 3.
I once saw a table which showed that as fish consumption increased so heart disease risk decreased. So as the consumption of fish approaches 1lb a day, the heart disease risk drops from 40% to 3%.
Another kick in the groin to the cholesterol conspiracy. So we have three oils at least that I can recommend; any vegetable oil not spoiled by heat or chemicals (eg coconuts, avocados), a little butter is good for frying because it does not so easily turn toxic with heating, and our fish oils.
So am I a profit of doom? Am I proposing a life of deprivation? No I am offering you a feast which non of those experts had even dreamed of.
Having said that, studies have shown again and again that a diet based largely on unprocessed vegetable products is conducive of a long and healthy life.
I would like to squeeze in here an analogy of the processed carbohydrate lacking in vitamin b. Well another pattern for you. Refined oils have the vitamin e removed. And guess what? The body needs vitamin e to digest oil. Am I repeating myself or are you making the same mistake over and over?
I haven't even talked about enzymes yet have I? I had this girlfriend who was fanatical about health. She used to go on and on about this subject. "Every food contains its opposite". What's the opposite of food? Enzymes dummy! An enzyme is a form of catalyst naturally found in your body and in foods. The characteristic of an enzyme is that it assists in a chemical reaction without being used up. An example is in a yoghurt culture. So for example if you drop a banana behind the seat of your car, it will be all soft and mushy after a week. I AM TOLD that if you did the same with takeaway food it will still be "fresh" after a few months. Notice how I have gone to a lot of trouble not to mention takeaway? I'll leave that one to your natural intelligence.
Not only for processed oils, but also regarding the pasteurization of milk and white flour, enzymes are always destroyed by food processing. It appears that a lot of processed food cannot be even digested by the body, which may just dump it into fat tissue somewhere. It is fairly certain that the visible damage done to the arterial lining by a glass of milk is also an example of this.
For those who insist on ignoring my emphasis on the need to eat whole foods, you can not only soften the blow of poor diet, but actually dissolve deposits from previous sins by taking enzymes with a meal. So for example papain found in green pawpaw, and bromelain found in pineapple dissolve protein deposits. Amylase found in saliva breaks down starch. Lipase breaks down fat deposits. I have a few experiences with these. For example I went shopping with my exgirlfriend, and after buying a bottle of enzymes we ate black forrest cake each. We both agreed that after taking three enzyme tablets, that there was no feeling of bloating.
Antioxidants and Supplements
Well I admit that I may have come down rather heavily on your favourite treats. I think its would be appropriate (so as to avoid the accusation of being a kill joy), to draw your attention to the miracle of natural foods.
Without going into everything, I shall provide a few examples. Anthocyanin, the red stuff in wine and black cherries is ten times as strong a pain killer as aspirin, and even better and safer than ibuprofen. It heals all collagen. You'll look younger and feel great.
Consider the proof of the potency of vitamin a to support life. Relatives of vitamin a come in many forms; yellow retinol in eggs and butter, retinyl palmitate in cod liver oil, the carotenoids as in carrots - not to mention the whole broad family of lycopene the red in tomato, zeaxanthin the yellow in maize, capsirubin in capsicum.
Well ladies know only too well that Tretenoin (ie a 10,000x dose of active retinol) will heal damaged skin and reduce wrinkles. I need hardly add that every time that you eat one of these brightly coloured things, and some of their colourless derivatives, you are doing the work of the tretinoin day by day - healing not only your face, but every cell in your body.
Anyway I am enjoying ny cup of hot bitter cocoa (ie pure cocoa powder with hot water) with cream. Did you know that when men over 60 have cocoa everyday it reduces the risk of all deaths by half? Cocoa has a particularly beneficial effect on the lining of the arteries due to the presence of the bitter flavonoids.
I hope that I have given you a new vision of what diet and health is. If I haven't exhausted you, hear what this Jerk has to say.
