High Blood Pressure
High Blood Pressure is most often due to blocked peripheral arteries. In any case if it is due to a broken marriage of some other factor, you seriously need to consider that you are likely to have constricted arteries, because 40% of Americans die of heart disease.
For that reason you definately should read about heart disease.
Meanwhile I shall devote the rest of this article to ways of reducing blood pressure. Low blood pressure is not often a problem except if it results in dizziness, or is a result of blood loss or being bed ridden. My position for a long time has been to take supplements which reduce blood pressure. At times I have felt concern that I may be overdoing, but it is now my belief that unless you can see that you are creating a problem, like not being alert at work, using blood pressure lowering herbs is a good idea in this stressful age.
Herbs which reduce Blood Pressure
Anthocyanin
See our article on anthocyanin. Anthocyanin is the purple stuff in bilberries and wine. As you will discover, it is excellent for the circulatory system. It scavenges free radical which cause cellular damage (it is a super antioxidant). It builds sound arteries, lowers blood pressure and blood sugar levels, which in turn prevents more damage to the circulatory system. It increases coronary heart flow, and blood supply to the head, eyes and all the ductless glands in the head which regulate all your hormones. My article explains how I purchased pure anthocyanin, which I drink as a bitter purple wine. I can become as hypotensive as I choose with this methods, and all my problems go away without getting drunk. Of course you could drink a cabernet sauvignon, which may be less effective, but is more enjoyable in taste. I guess in my case I like to draw the line at getting a little tipsy. Anthocyanin is also a powerfull pain killer.
Gotu Kola
We also have an article on gotu kola. Gotu kola has many properties in common with anthocyanin. It heals blood vessels, varicose veins, spider veins and skin disorders (even leprosy), It contains vitamin k (the blood clotting agent). Gotu kola increases circulation to the limbs and the heads. It also stimulates the hypophthalmus, pituitary and pineal glands, regulating growth hormone, sex and stress hormones, melatonin and seratonin.
It is used by buddhist monks in meditation to calm the mind while improving concentration. Gotu Kola reduces blood pressure.
Vitamin E
Vitamin e is highly non toxic, which I have taken at 17 g a day (which is a small bottle of capsules). When complications arise it is either due to the depletion of vitamin a in the liver (so take it with your cod liver oil) and because it antagonises vitamin k, it thins the blood a lot. Apparently a few individuals have gotten a stroke for this reason. Because 17g a day is regarded as the toxic threshold I assume that these people took even more. In your case you may wish to take a few grams a day, perhaps not all at once.
I guess you could take vitamin e with kotu kola too, which will replenish the vitamin k. Vitamin e has been proven to reverse and prevent skin damage and wrinkles due to the sun's rays. Of course it is one of the major antioxidants, and protects the cells from damage by antioxidants.
Rhemannia Glutinosa
In my article on my raw Chinese herbs I describe rehmannia glutinosa or Chinese foxglove. It is not a real foxglove. The Chinese use it in its raw form in which case the effect is hypertensive. When the roots have been cooked 9 times in wine, and dried it is radix rehmannia preparata or shu di.
Shu di has been turned into the heart drug digitalis as described in my article. It increases circulation and is hypotensive (reducing blood pressure). It reduces blood sugar levels. It is good for diabetes, and helps to prevent the depletion of stored glycogen in the liver, so it is good for hypoglycemia also. It also has fungicidal properties, and can help fight candida. It is a diuretic and it increases blood circulation to the brain. See my article on Chinese herbs.
Arginine
Nobel prize winning research has proven that arginine increases circulation in heart patients by 30% while preventing plaque aggregation on the arterial walls. It alone has the potential to banish circulatory problems from people' lives. The clinical dose was 10g a day - but spread throughout the day. Much higher doses are possible if your health is not in a fragile state.
Conclusion
I bet I could go on and on finding natural substances which reduce blood pressure. These that I have described I am very familiar with. I have taken the whole lot at once. I remember my heart beating ever so slowly. I would not recommend it if you are on medication. Personally I avoid pharmaceuticals. They are only trying to mimic the miracles that I have unfolded on this page and they do it very badly in a very unsafe way. That is not to say that there are no dangers involved in taking herbs. My guess is that 10,000 more people die from phamaceuticals than taking herbs. Always pay attention to side effects, and don't be shy to seek advice from those who know. All the same you are the master of your destiny. Be discerning even with professionals, there are a lot of mediocre, greedy people out there.
